The current version of gAnim8 is 0.3 (a MAJOR upgrade). Users of older versions are highly recommended to upgrade. gAnim8 does NOT need to be compiled (it's Python). Neither the .rpm nor .tar.gz packages require compiling. However, you *may* need compiled versions of gifsicle, FFMPEG, and ImageMagick if you select a package with the name 'basic' (see system requirements).
gAnim8 - SUITE:Download a package with the word 'SUITE' if you have an i586 (Redhat-compatible distribution) and want a package that includes almost all the dependencies. The 'SUITE' packages include pre-compiled versions of Gifsicle and FFMPEG. If you have a Mandrake disribution, you can download the copy of ImageMagick provided. (Repeat: The ImageMagick and libMagick RPMS are for Mandrake only). Please do not write me saying something dumb like: "The ImageMagick RPM does not work on RedHat", because it's not for RedHat. People not using Mandrake are on their own to find and install a copy of ImageMagick. Otherwise, get the latest version of ImageMagick on speakeasy.rpmfind.net or check out the suggested links on the system requirements page . The 'SUITE' package seems to be the most popular and is personally recommended by the software author.
gAnim8 - basic:Download a package with the word 'basic' if you want a bare-bones copy of gAnim8. If you choose the 'basic' package, you will have to download and install your own versions of Gifsicle, FFMPEG, and ImageMagick. Please check the system requirements page for links to download these packages. If you are using a RedHat-compatible i586 system, you can download the 'Gifsicle' and 'FFMPEG' RPMs provided in the gAnim8 download section.
