LATEST NEWS [1/23/2004]: Attention Windows XP Users: The Windows .EXE for Pythoñol/PyBabelPhish does NOT run on Windows XP. However, it's known to run on Win98/95. So, XP users are just out of luck. Do NOT report this as a 'bug': the 'bug' is XP impersonating an operating system.

NOTE: Pythoñol is a LINUX application. It was initially designed for Linux and will always be a Linux/Unix application FIRST. I will always put more effort into the LINUX version than the Windows/Other versions of my software. As such, Pythoñol, PyBabelPhish, PyPrint, and PyInstallShield are all more stable on Linux than Windows and other operating systems. In addition, the applications have been tested 10 times more (easily) on Linux vs. Windows. Nevertheless, I will put 'known limitations' on this page as they pertain to Linux/Unix, as I find these limitations or are made aware of them. Important Note: As of version 2.1, the Gtk theme and font used by Pythoñol and PyBabelPhish are managed by the application using a theme selector. This means that Linux/Unix users can now easily change the look and feel of the application with 'skins' (Gtk-2 themes). If you have your own Gtk-2 themes you wish to use with the application, simply copy or 'symlink' their directories into the Pythoñol/PyBabelPhish themes directory. If you get a series of Gtk 'font fallback' warnings, you should use the Theme Selector to change the font to one that exists on your system:

Known limitations in the Linux/Unix version of Pythoñol:
- On some systems, the application can crash when applying a new Theme from the Theme Selector; The new theme will be applied when you restart the application. (I am currently working on a solution to this bug, and hope to have it fixed in the next release.)

- Pythoñol's printing module, PyPrint, only supports printing on local LPRng/LPR printer spools. CUPS and other printing systems are NOT supported. I don't know if I intend to support these systems either, as I don't use them. So, If you want to print from Pythoñol, you need an LPRng print spooler on your system, or you will have to use the 'Save To File' option throughout Pythoñol, save the data to a text file, and print from an external application. See the
system requirements for full details on what you need to run PyPrint.

Known limitations running PyBabelPhish on Linux/Unix:
- On some systems, the application can crash when applying a new Theme from the Theme Selector; The new theme will be applied when you restart the application. (I am currently working on a solution to this bug, and hope to have it fixed in the next release.)

- PyBabelPhish does not yet support all the languages available through the translation services, particularly languages using Asian, Cyrillic, and Persian character sets. No immediate plans are in place to implement support for this.

Known limitations in the Linux/Unix version of PyInstallShield:
- PyInstallShield is BETA, but fairly stable code right now.

Known limitations in PyPrint:
- PyPrint is BETA code right now.

- PyPrint, only supports printing on local LPRng/LPR printer spools. CUPS and other printing systems are NOT supported. I don't know if I intend to support these systems either, as I don't use them. See the
system requirements for full details on what you need to run PyPrint.
